Kollate for Chrome privacy

The extension runs only on ChatGPT and Claude chat pages. It uses the page to show the Kollate bubble and read the conversation you choose to record. Recording is off until you explicitly start it for each conversation. Collecting your claude.ai cloud sessions is a separate setting, also off until you turn it on.

What is sent

Starting recording authorizes immediate upload of sent user text and completed assistant text, with the conversation title, source and identifier, to the selected workspace. Optional partial backfill can add older text currently visible in the browser; it may be incomplete. Drafts, files, attachments, images, tool output and hidden model reasoning are not uploaded. Pausing stops reading chat text and uploading until you explicitly resume. Stopping ends recording but does not remove turns already uploaded. Leaving the chat, losing connection or one hour without new chat activity interrupts recording and requires an explicit resume.

Cloud sessions

If you turn on cloud collection, the extension reads your own Claude Cowork tasks and Claude Code cloud sessions from claude.ai every 15 minutes, using your existing claude.ai sign-in in this browser, and uploads their user and assistant text, title and identifier to the selected workspace. It starts from the moment you turn it on: a session from before then is added only if you use it again. Tool calls and their output, files, images, thinking and system reminders are not uploaded. Turning it off, or disconnecting the extension, stops collection; text already uploaded remains.

Accounts and storage

Sign-in issues a revocable extension token. Chrome stores the token in extension-local storage if you choose to stay signed in, or extension session storage until Chrome closes; both are restricted to the extension background worker. Your consent choice and selected workspace preference is stored in Chrome sync storage. The locked recording destination is stored in Kollate. Kollate stores only a hash of the token, plus connection times and the account it belongs to. Data travels over HTTPS.

Access and control

Browser recordings follow Kollate workspace permissions: you and your workspace admins may read them. You can disconnect the extension from Kollate’s Connect page; uploaded text remains. The recorder may delete a recording in the Kollate app unless the current workspace policy disables non-admin deletion. Admins may always delete it. The policy can change later and applies to older recordings. Kollate does not use extension data for advertising or sell it.
